The following points are the vision that the Democratic Party holds for the USA.

Honest Leadership and Open Government

We will end the Republican culture of corruption and restore a government as good as the people it serves.

Real Security at Home and Around the World

We will protect Americans at home and lead the world by telling the truth to our troops, our citizens and our allies.

Energy Independence and Lower Gas Prices

We will create a cleaner and stronger America by reducing our dependence on foreign oil.

Good Jobs, Better Pay and College Access for All

We will create jobs that stay in America by restoring opportunity and driving innovation.

We will open the doors of college for all Americans.

A Health Care System that Works for Everyone

We will join 36 other industrialized nations by ensuring everyone has access to affordable health care, and will make health care decisions based on science, not politics.

We will invest in life-saving science, including medical stem cell research.

Retirement Security

We will ensure that a retirement with dignity is the right and expectation of every American.

Now -- compare the Democratic Party vision of the future with the reality of 10 years of Republican rule:

•  Endless war, started with lies, continued with lies.
   
•  Tax cuts for the wealthiest one percent of Americans while the rest of us see our real incomes continue to shrink.
   
•  Republican "energy policy" is:
  • drill, drill, drill;
  • strip mine, strip mine, strip mine;
  • drive, drive, drive;
  • 
     
• Cut after cut after cut in federal college assistance.
   
•  Continuing attacks on basic protection for working people: 
  • reduction of workplace safety standards;
  • re-writing of overtime rules;
  • preventing workers from suing to obtain basic rights.
     
•  Refusal of the Executive Branch to enforce laws passed by Congress.
   
•  Pushing for "Health Savings Accounts" to replace health insurance; a scheme that will benefit only those able to pay for medical care.
   
•  Relying on religious superstition instead of science in medical research.
   
•  Pushing to "privatize" Social Security by turning over your Social Security accounts to stock brokers and investment advisors -- who did so well with housing financing.
