We are losing
the
War in Iraq
and the
War on Terror

In spite of George W. Bush's claims that we have the terrorists on the run, that freedom is on the march in Iraq, and that we are winning around the world, the stark truth is this:

  • The U. S. is losing the "war on terror;"
  • Iraq is sliding into civil war at worst and armed factionalism at best; and,
  • Our war in Iraq has handed to Islamic terrorist the greatest recruiting tool they could hope for.

This section of the Rightwing Lies website focuses on the lie that the U. S. is winning the war on terror and winning the war in Iraq.  Here are articles that you need to read and invite your friends to read.  Use these articles as material for letters to the editor to your local newspapers, talk about this information at work -- get out the word -- Bush is losing all his wars and he's lying about it.

  • The Bush administration is losing the war on terror and lying about it.  State Department released documents with phony data and was forced to recall the documents for "corrections."

  • As of mid-September 2004, more and more Iraqi towns, villages, and cities -- in some cases, entire regions -- are "no-go" areas for U. S. troops because these areas are under the control of Iraqi "insurgents."  And we are winning?

  • By every measure , in mid-September, the "insurgents" who oppose U. S. forces in Iraq are gaining strength.

  • Bush's war in Iraq is destroying our relationships with other Middle Eastern nations, including those that we once counted on for stability and support.

  • In July 2004, the U. S. intelligence community produced a national intelligence estimate on Iraq that concluded there were three possible outcomes for Iraq -- civil war, sectarian violence, uneasy tension -- notice they did not mention victory, freedom, democracy.  Yet, with this intelligence estimate in his hand, George W. Bush continues to smirk and tell us how we are winning the war in Iraq.

  • As of mid-September 2004, senior U. S. military officers are in near-revolt over the war in Iraq -- they realize that the war is destroying U. S. credibility worldwide and they know the war is being lost.

  • This is an excellent New York Times article that details how the Bush administration insisted that Iraq was building nuclear weapons in spite of considerable evidence to the contrary.  We see in this article how the Bush administration cooked the books and lied to the American public and the world.

  • The war in Vietnam, because it was the wrong war in the wrong place, almost destroyed the U. S. Army.  The war in Iraq is headed in the same direction.

  • The real casualties of war are never seen, except by military medical personnel and the families of the maimed, wounded, and disabled.   This is an ugly article.  Read it.  Send it to George Bush.
