Exposing the
Real Danger
to
America

The real danger to the U. S. is NOT from terrorists, drug lords, gay marriage, or other phony threats.  The danger to this nation is from the disastrous combination of imperialism, religious fanaticism, and nationalism that drives the George W. Bush junta.

• This article, published in the New York Times, 16 August 2004, is frightening.  FBI agents are questioning Americans about their political beliefs.  "As night does not come at once . . . "  It's getting dark.
   
• The Real Danger.  The real danger to the U. S. is NOT from terrorists, drug lords, gay marriage, or other phony threats.  The danger is from the disastrous combination of imperialism, religious fanaticism, and nationalism that drives the Bush junta.
   
• American Fascism.  In April 1944, Franklin Roosevelt's vice-president, Henry Wallace, warned of the danger of fascism.  Wallace's warning, though, was a bit strange -- in 1944 the U. S. was engaged in a worldwide war against the fascists in Germany, Italy, and Japan -- however -- Wallace did not warn of those fascists.  Instead, he warned how fascism could come to America.
  "The really dangerous American fascists," Wallace wrote, "are not those who are hooked up directly or indirectly with the Axis. The FBI has its finger on those. The dangerous American fascist is the man who wants to do in the United States in an American way what Hitler did in Germany in a Prussian way. The American fascist would prefer not to use violence. His method is to poison the channels of public information. With a fascist the problem is never how best to present the truth to the public but how best to use the news to deceive the public into giving the fascist and his group more money or more power."
   
• The mis-named USA Patriot Act threatens more of our civil liberties than it protects.  And now, John Ashcroft is trying to slip Patriot Act II past us.
