Tom DeLay:
Republican Majority Leader,
Sleazeball of the Highest Order

You gotta admit one thing -- the Republicans are masters of sleaze.  First, they fall in line behind New Gingrich who:

• Served divorce papers on his first wife while she was recovering from cancer surgery.
• Had a staff member whose sole job was to keep his two young daughters occupied while Newtie enjoyed oral sex from women (so he could honestly state he had never had intercourse with them).
• Maintained an apartment near Capitol Hill where he would slip away with a young woman on his staff and bang away at her -- while he was married to his second wife and while he was attacking Bill Clinton for his affair with Monica Lewinsky.

If you thought it couldn't get any worse than Newt, then you never heard of Tom DeLay.  DeLay is the Republican majority leader.  A Republican from Texas, DeLay avoided the draft during the Vietnam War by getting married and staying in college -- a common tactic for our current Republican leaders. In 2004, an local district attorney in Texas started an investigation into the tactics and practices used by DeLay and several of his associates in connection with gambling on Indian reservations in Texas and Louisiana.  As the investigation proceeded (as of April 2005, the investigation is still underway), it became more and more clear that DeLay was sinking.  The House Ethics Committee censured him three times.  Then, the House Republican leadership fired the Republican who headed the Ethics Committee and replaced him with another Republican who would leave DeLay alone.

The whole sorry DeLay story is a textbook example of just how sleazy are the radical reactionaries who now control the Republican Party.
